Is 4rabet Legal in India? Licence Check 2026

Quick answer

No. India’s Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 bans offering, advertising and processing payments for online money games, including sports betting and online casino games. There is no Indian licence 4rabet could hold. We also could not confirm which company operates 4rabet or which foreign licence, if any, it relies on.

Country Local licence? Status Regulator
India No (online money games banned) Illegal Central government (Ministry of Electronics and IT, MeitY)

Who operates 4rabet and which licence it holds

4rabet is a betting and casino brand aimed mainly at Indian players, with cricket betting and payments in rupees. We tried to check the operating company and licence details on the brand’s own site. When we checked in September 2026, the main domain redirected to a different address and did not return its terms or footer to our checker. We therefore could not confirm the legal entity behind 4rabet or any licence number.

Affiliate sites often describe 4rabet as “Curaçao-licensed”. Since 2023, Curaçao licences are issued by the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA), and every licensee appears by company name in its public register. Without a confirmed company name we could not match 4rabet to an entry in that register. If a 4rabet page shows a company name and licence number, look it up in the CGA register yourself and check the expiry date and status.

A missing or unverifiable operator identity is a warning sign on its own. If something goes wrong, you may not even know which company to complain to. And even a valid Curaçao licence would cover only activity from Curaçao, never real-money betting for people in India.

The law in India

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 received presidential assent on 22 August 2025. It prohibits “online money games”, meaning any online game where a user pays or stakes money expecting to win money or other stakes, whether it is based on skill, chance or both. Online cricket betting and casino games fall within this definition. PRS Legislative Research summarises the penalties as follows:

  • Offering online money games: up to 3 years’ imprisonment and/or a fine of up to ₹1 crore.
  • Advertising them, including through influencers or promotional content: up to 2 years and/or up to ₹50 lakh.
  • Facilitating payments for them: up to 3 years and/or up to ₹1 crore.
  • The central government can block public access to online money gaming services.

The Act allows e-sports and social games without stakes to be registered and promoted. It creates no licence for real-money betting. Implementing rules were notified in April 2026, and challenges to the law are before the Supreme Court. The ban applies unless the Court rules otherwise. Blocking orders are not published as a single searchable list, so a site’s absence from a public blacklist does not mean it is allowed.

What this means for players

  • No Indian complaints route: no Indian authority can resolve disputes over withdrawals, voided bets or closed accounts.
  • Payment risk: facilitating payments for money games is an offence, so UPI, card and bank transfers can be declined, reversed or frozen. Deposits to personal UPI IDs or agent accounts carry an extra risk of fraud.
  • Unknown counterparty: because we could not confirm the operator, you may be handing your ID documents and bank details to a company whose identity and location are unclear.
  • Tax: Indian tax law has taxed online gaming winnings at 30%.
  • Player penalties: PRS’s summary of the 2025 Act found no criminal penalty for individual players. The offences target operators, advertisers and payment facilitators.

How to check any gambling site yourself

  1. Look for the operating company’s full legal name, registration number and licence number in the footer or terms. If they are missing, stop there.
  2. Look the licence up with the issuing regulator. For Curaçao, use the CGA register at cga.cw and check the company name, expiry date and status.
  3. Remember the Indian position: no real-money online betting or casino site can be lawfully offered in India. Official notices are published by MeitY.
  4. Treat frequent domain changes, APK downloads from outside official app stores and deposit requests to personal accounts as red flags.

Licensed alternatives

India currently has no lawful real-money online betting or casino market, so we do not recommend any operator as an alternative. Free-to-play games and stake-free e-sports remain permitted.

How we checked

This is desk research carried out in September 2026. We tried to read 4rabet’s own site, searched the CGA online licence register dated 21 September 2026, and used PRS Legislative Research’s summary of India’s 2025 online gaming law. The operator identity and licence could not be verified, and we have said so above.
